THE ARTIST

Juanjo Blazquez

- Lorca, 1998 -

Born in Lorca (Spain) in 1998, Juanjo began his piano studies at the Narciso Yepes Conservatory at 8 years old. Following everything his older sister did, he initially took piano lessons as a hobby, but soon it became his passion.

- Madrid, 2016 -

At the age of 18, he decided to pursue music as a career and left his hometown to further his studies in Madrid with some of the best musicians in Spain.

While living some of the most intense and happy years of his life, he got to perform as a soloist at the Spanish National Auditorium of Music and was also chosen to represent his country at the Kyoto International Music Students Festival.

Juanjo has received masterclasses from teachers such as Lilya Zilberstein, Anna Malikova, Stefan Vladar, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Stephen Hough, Eldar Nebolsin, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, and Eliso Virsaladze among others.

- Manchester, 2020 -

Attracted by the endless opportunities and the rich cultural atmosphere of the UK, Juanjo moved to Manchester where he currently resides.

Juanjo is proud to have been awarded the prestigious La Caixa Foundation fellowship, through which he continues to develop his musicianship under the tutelage of Kathryn Stott. He is also attracting the attention of concert societies and orchestras, giving him the opportunity to perform all over the country.

Most of all, Juanjo enjoys the social interaction of music. His fundamental love of performing is driven by the language of music, not only a beautiful form of expression and communication between collaborative musicians, but also between musicians and the public. For this reason, one of his greatest joys is to play chamber music, piano duos, and piano concerti with orchestras, and how much it means to share this passion with an audience.

He recently appeared in the issue n.83 of International Piano Magazine in June, which reviewed the charity concert in favour of the Disasters Committee Ukraine Appeal and A Bed Every Night.

Juanjo uses his music also as a means to enhance life for people and society in general. He collaborates with Olympias Music Foundation, a charity that increases accessibility to music through musical training and experiences for children and adults in difficult economic and social situations. He also works with the Rainbow People Choir which enables a safe space to LGBTQ+ people in a musical environment.

He has performed all over Spain and UK, and the ALTI Hall in Kyoto. Juanjo performed as a soloist Tchaikovsky’s 1st Piano Concerto at Madrid’s National Auditorium with the María Rodrigo Symphony Orchestra, and with Getafe Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, he performed Mozart Concerto in D minor with Salford Symphony Orchestra and Tchaikovsky again with Aylesbury Symphony Orchestra. In UK Juanjo is part of the Talent Unlimited charity.
